The Patrol Division operates under the direction of Captain Howard Bussie. Captain Bussie supervises the patrol division within the Sheriff's Office and applies law enforcement techniques for effective law enforcement and crime prevention.
The Patrol Division consists of a captain, two lieutenants, two sergeants, and twenty sheriff deputies. The Patrol Division is responsible for serving writs, warrants, subpoenas, and civil documents; in addition to performing residential and business security checks. The Patrol Division monitor all assigned areas and observe activity to identify violations of applicable law and take appropriate actions to deal with the situation, including making arrest and charging a suspect, issuing citations, issuing written warnings or rectifying the situation through a dialogue with all parties involved as warranted. The Patrol Division responds to calls and/or complaints from citizens, involving arriving at the scene, taking statements from all parties involved, identifying a violation if one exists and taking appropriate arrest and/or citation steps as the situation warrants. Patrol Deputies maintain a highly visible presence within the community for the purpose of deterring crime, maintaining good community relations and providing an identifiable source for citizens to go to for assistance, guidance, protection, and service.
