The Talladega County Drug and Violent Crime Task Force is a multi-agency unit formed to primarily combat drug crimes in Talladega County. The Task Force operates under the supervision of Commander Jason Murray who is employed under a grant by the District Attorney Steve Giddens. The Task Force receives oversight from its board of directors which is composed of the District Attorney, The Chief Deputy District Attorney, and the Sheriff and Police Chiefs from the municipalities within the county. The agents are assigned from county law enforcement agencies or are District Attorney employees hired under the grant.
The Talladega County Drug and Violent Crime Task Force conducts undercover operations to arrest and prosecute drug offenders, find and dismantle methamphetamine laboratories, assist with violent crime investigations, assist ATF, DEA, and U.S. Marshalls, and teach drug awareness at local schools.
